Homocysteine and Hypertension - Is There a Connection? There are so many different chemicals that are at work in our body at any given time that it is difficult to really understand and identify the ones that are the most helpful. The reason why this is the case it is because whenever the levels of this compound are raised within the body, we are at danger of a number of different problems that include cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure. The real challenge comes in being able to lower your numbers of homocysteine and to keep them regulated without lowering them so much that you put yourself at risk in the other direction. Fortunately, it is not all that difficult to do if you understand some basic principles about why your homocysteine levels may be so high in the first place. In reality, it has to do with a deficiency in the body rather than there being too much of something in the body. By supplementing what you may be missing, you have a better opportunity of lowering your homocysteine levels and your blood pressure along with it. One of the most common reasons why people have high homocysteine levels is because they are deficient in vitamin B. Incidentally, being short on this vitamin can also cause a number of other problems, including panic attacks. You should make sure that you are supplementing on a regular basis with this vitamin and perhaps even several times a day, as the body gets older. The reason why this is the case is because the body tends to use up this vitamin regularly and it does not store any for later use. You can either supplement in pill form or you can take something, such as brewers yeast which has many good things for the body, including vitamin B. Something else that should be taken regularly is whey protein. Whey is a byproduct of cheese manufacturing and it contains some very good protein that is often found in the store in a power form. One thing that you want to make sure of is that you are taking high quality protein instead of just grabbing the cheapest variety that is available. In doing so, you'll be able to make your body as healthy as possible, keep your homocysteine levels in check and regulate your blood pressure naturally.
